Pictures of the Logging Switchback





Here is the new Logging Switchback! We have just completed building this new exciting mountain switchback for our Shay, and Heistler. This switchback is 15" higher than the sawmill at the top, and carries a 6% grade. The Bachmann Shay has no problem making its way to the top. At the top, logs will be loaded onto different types of log cars for shipment to the sawmill. Once cut, the boards will be loaded into boxcars, and taken to Leadville. At this point the local switching crew will take the loaded boxcars to the lumber facility at Denver Yard. The empties will then return to Leadville for another load!
