Pictures of the Sawmill Complex





This is the Glen Union Lumber Company sawmill. The sawmill complex is at the bottom of the switchback, and is in close proximity to Leadville. The trees that are cut down near the top of the mountain will be transported to the sawmill for cutting into boards. The boards will then be loaded into boxcars and taken to Leadville where a "mainline" train will pick it up during switching tasks. The car will then end up in Glen Union Lumber Company's Denver Yard lumber facility. The car will then be unloaded and brought back to Leadville where it will then go back to the sawmill for more boards. The sawmill will also be the place that the shay's will load-up on coal. There will be a coal bunker near the switchback's mainline for the shay's to use.
